Lancashire Law School

The LLB (Hons) with English Law is a Qualifying Law Degree for the purposes of practice in the UK and enables you to go on to the professional stages of legal training by way of the Bar Professional Training Course. The aim of the course is to offer the opportunity for intellectual development, to acquire fundamental legal and language knowledge for progression into the legal profession, the wider employment market or further study and to provide flexibility in developing specialised interests.

You will be taught by staff from Lancashire Law School at UCLan and from the University of Mauritius as well as having visiting lecturers from relevant academic and practice areas. Lancashire Law School is ranked in the world’s top 200 institutions for the subject law (2012 QS World University Rankings) and amongst its staff are internationally renowned research experts, award winning teachers and legal professionals. Teaching will take place in newly refurbished rooms with state-of-the-art equipment. At UCLan we also provide our students with extensive online resources and you will be supported on each module by a virtual learning environment.

This programme will help you to demonstrate a comprehensive and accurate knowledge and understanding of the detail of legal rules, including theoretical issues pertinent to any of the substantive areas of law studied and their relationship to relevant economic, social, commercial, political, European, African and international contexts.

Entry requirements

The normal entry requirement for this course is BBB at A2 level (or equivalent) and a grade C or above in GCSE English or an IELTS score of 6.0 or above and Maths.  

Applications from individuals who narrowly miss these entry requirements or have non-standard qualifications, relevant work or life experience and from those who can demonstrate the ability to cope with, and benefit from, degree level studies are welcome and will be considered on an individual basis.
